(also notice the knickers - looking a little bit grown up, yes im writing this in a proud mummy way)

Toilet Training a 2 year old

who knew it was so tiring.
yes tiring. We started Sophie with the idea of toilet training just before she turned two.
we introducing her to the toilet,
we bought some pullups and training pants, a potty and toilet seat.
She started to get the idea, telling us when her pullups where filled.
But other then that it didn't seem to be 'clicking' for her.
So i read up a little, and decided to do the '3 day toilet training' program.
http://www.babycenter.com/0_potty-training-in-three-days-or-less_10310078.bc
and we half heatedly let her wear training pants, and putting her on the toilet. But still nothing.
But i realized that unless I was ready, then she was not going to train herself.
So after clearing 3 days in a row, i decided that this week i was going to toilet train Sophie.

Wednesday (20th) Day 1.
All day i 'hovered' over Sophie, trying to catch her in the act, and reinforce that she should be sitting on the potty. There were a LOT of accidents. around 10 or so. And only once did i manage to get her to do a little wee on the potty BUT by the end of the day, after her accidents she would then run to the potty. So after a lot of cleaning floors and placing her on the potty i was hoping that tomorrow will be better!

Thursday (21st) Day 2:
Today was only 3 accidents, and 3 small wees on the potty. progress! She is realizing that it needs to go on the potty, and also holding it in longer.
Sophie also enjoyed putting her dollies on the potty when she went!

Friday (22nd) Day 3:
We have break-though! Sophie was busy playing, started to wee, quickly ran to the potty and finished her wee. She was so excited! We did a little yay wee on the toilet dance. and then said goodbye as we flushed it down the toilet. I had to pop into town for an hour so i put a pullup on her, and reminded her to go toilet while we were out. but she told me when she did it in her pullup instead.

For Sophie's toilet training, I didnt want to reward her with any treats, as she is just that little bit to young to understand rewards and sticker charts go with doing wee's in toilet. She is definitely a child who loves over enthusiasm, so i found that words of encouragement, and disinterest in the accidents worked. And getting really excited about wees on toilet made her feel proud as punch, and got her excited about doing it again.
On a side note i have downloaded 'Elmo's Potty Time' DVD for her to watch. It talks about going to the potty, washing hands, having that have to go feeling etc. I let Sophie watch it half way the day. I really liked this DVD and found her referring to it during her potty times. Talking about going 'wee wee' on the potty and not on the floor. so im glad that she this reinforced it to her (and i think it helped being Elmo - she is fascinated by him!)

Friday (5th) Day 2 weeks:
So it has been 2 weeks since i started Sophie with toilet training. She has done incredibly well. Since day 5, she has only had about 3 accidents at home. I still put her in pullups when we are out at the shops, but we try to go for walks and she is in knickers then and does really well.

whats been happening!

So its been awhile since ive posted. sorry for the overload of 'catchup' posts.
Been renovating our office. Ripped out the carpet, painted the walls 'Scandinavian grey' put in floorboards. In the process of putting in skirting boards. Then just need to organize desk/craft space and it will be all done. YAY. cant wait for that - at the moment our office stuff is in boxes all over the house- the computers setup in my dining room. And every day it annoys me just a little bit more - but hey i get my 'new' office at the end of it . so ill try be patient.

A lovely Easter long weekend - remembering Christ's death + resurrection.
also a time of bdays for us, and enjoying the weekend catching up with others. And who can forgot the yummy Easter eggs + hot cross buns!
Spent Friday at Lottery West Playground with the Hidding Clan. Had a lovely picnic lunch watching the girls play. Couldn't ask for better weather either. Was such a lovely day ( and location - looking forward to go back; brilliant gated playground for the kids and has a cafe too!)
Saturday Chris + dad worked on dad's brick wall at the front garden.
Sunday we were enriched with hearing a sermon about Jesus resurrection.
Monday Chris spent the morning cutting up the skirting boards for our office. Then we were on our way for morning coffee to help Opa Pleiter celebrate his bday. the afternoon chris worked around the house and spending quality family time with the kids.
Tuesday was my dads bday!! So more coffee + cake to celebrate his special day.

some Easter Friday park photos...i had my camera with me all weekend but this is the only time i remembered to take it out!

I LOVE this photo. most definitely sums up Sophie's stubborn personality. She was not impressed that i wanted a photo of her wearing bunny ears!

Uncle Alex taking 'cool dude' photos of me.

Girls playing so nicely together
Ring a rosie

The above photo is of my 2 monkeys. Chris has climbed to the top, and Sophie can be seen dangling at the bottom of photo!

Isaiah Facts # 5 months.

Well im actually 5.5 months now, but my mum has been terribly lazy lately with her blogging.
Whats been happening in my little world.

I now weight: 6.83kg
I'm still not the best feeder. I really don't like feeding out in public when there is much more to see. And i sometimes i just am plain stubborn at home, and refuse to feed. The other day i went 14 hours without a feed! it stressed mum out a little, but i was still happy all day! mum tried me with a bottle, but i have absolutely no idea how to use it - oh well.
I have started solids, i have breakfast + dinner. I love it SO much! Mum cant get it in my mouth fast enough.
I stopped sleeping through the night - because of my terrible feeding. but since ive been introduced to solids i sometimes sleep from 7pm-6am with a 2/3am wake.
I love my big sister - always have a ready smile for her! even if she does lay on me, or try to roll me over to play.
I now ' crawl'. Its very  funny to watch. I stretch the top half of my body all the way up, Then push my bum in the air till it comes under me, then tuck my head it so i look like a little ball, then spring forward.
Im still a wiggle worm, always on the move - never sitting still while people try to give me cuddles, and when mum gets me from  my bed in the morning i am all over the place.

Below 3 photos are of my 'crawl'

 Always a happy little man
