7 months

just realized i have forgotten to do a 7 month post, so i will reflect on the month been and try to remember all that has happened.

Isaiah has been rocking on all fours for a few months now, and then decided that no he wouldn't be normal and do crawling properly but instead command/slither on the floor to get to places.
Then after spending both services in creche one Sunday, he decided that it was much simpler to crawl, and off he went. I think it may have something to do with the fact that there was carpet in creche, (good grip) whereas we have lino, and its slippery.
But yes, our baby is now crawling at the age of 7 months!
He gets faster everyday, and absolutely loves chasing his big sister around the house.

He loves his food! Mouth open wide like a little bird, waiting for the next mouthful!
Still terrible at drinking from a bottle, so ive decided to just leave him with a sippy cup and hopefully he will get some water in that way.

2 beautiful little toothy pegs are getting taller daily, and are very sharp if your fingers get to close!

April photos

Isaiah is now 6.5 months (whoops missed his 6 month blog post)
He is still our happy little man
Finally found himself a day time routine, and now has 3 day sleeps ranging from 1-2 hours. But his nighttime schedule is all over the place. He started to wake for a feed every 3 hours lately, but i think that might have to do with a growth spurt (since he has moved up to size 0 for onesies) and also his bottom left tooth has finally cut through (8/5/13)
He still loves to be on all fours, rocking around and can now move his legs into crawl position but hasn't mastered his hands.
He started saying Dada about a week ago.
Can now sit without support, but it never lasts long because he is always moving! (or his sister is around)

Sophie is still our little miss and keeps us on our toes. We have noticed that we definitely have to start watching what we say around her, since she parrots a lot of sayings. Like "oh cwap" cute, but a little naughty.
She still tries to get out of her day sleeps, by climbing out of bed to fetch books, turn her light on, say hi to the dog through her curtain. Cheeky!
Her toileting is going great. She will come inside if she is playing or tell me when we are out. I still get nervous while shopping and put her in a pull-up. But we are down to only a few accidents a week, which is great :)

Getting better at sitting.
"what is that? oh wait just my hand"

love baby onesies
smothered with love from big sis
sibling bathtime
long chilling outside in the swing
Sophie helps by pushing him
"aaaw"

Family Photos

Beginning of April, Dad Huizy celebrated his birthday and finding any excuse (hehe) we went to Esplanade in Fremantle for a buffet breakfast.
It was delicious - a great variety of food, and Chris was kept busy with their fruit juicer.
Afterwards we went for a walk to the foreshore and side streets to snap up some family photos.

Sophie says...

just a collection of things that Miss 2 has said some time or another.
I'm going to try post a few of these every now and again, little miss chatterbox never stop talking and at times they are quiet humorous.

I had just finished reorganizing the living room. I had moved the couches so they now were on opposite walls. Sophie came in from playing in her room. " MUM!" she exclaimed.. "oh no, no" then proceeded to walk over to one of the couches, lent against it and "puuussshhh.'
Maybe the Feng shui wasn't right?

I was talking to Chris on Skype. Sophie came and sat on my lap watching as we typed. I had just done a :P smiley face emoticon. "Silly man" Sophie mumbled. I then told Chris what she had said, so he sent back a birthday cake and teddy bear.  " Look mum, stickers" and she tried to peel them off the screen. "oh no, stuck" Chris then sent through a dancing man. " MUM! look Opa" proclaimed Sophie pointing to the screen.

Sophie loves her dollhouse, and her little people play in it. She will spend all day happily making up stories, lost in her imagination. Last night while Chris was preparing rissoles for dinner, a little hand reached up, and then into her mouth those fingers went. " Ewww, yuck." "oh daddy!" as if it was Chris' fault that she had tasted it. Later that night while she was playing with her dolls, this conversation could be heard. " Dolly taste? mmm yuck" " Opa taste? mmm yuck" (yes she named one of her dolls, opa) "don't touch, oh baby you ok? mmm yuck"

Sophie is quiet good at her dinner time prayers, only needing a few prompts here and there. Her new thing for awhile was to cheekily so "Ahmiiiiin" really loud. One dinner time i asked her "Sophie, say amen properly" to which she mumbled.."Amen properly"

(also notice the knickers - looking a little bit grown up, yes im writing this in a proud mummy way)

Toilet Training a 2 year old

who knew it was so tiring.
yes tiring. We started Sophie with the idea of toilet training just before she turned two.
we introducing her to the toilet,
we bought some pullups and training pants, a potty and toilet seat.
She started to get the idea, telling us when her pullups where filled.
But other then that it didn't seem to be 'clicking' for her.
So i read up a little, and decided to do the '3 day toilet training' program.
http://www.babycenter.com/0_potty-training-in-three-days-or-less_10310078.bc
and we half heatedly let her wear training pants, and putting her on the toilet. But still nothing.
But i realized that unless I was ready, then she was not going to train herself.
So after clearing 3 days in a row, i decided that this week i was going to toilet train Sophie.

Wednesday (20th) Day 1.
All day i 'hovered' over Sophie, trying to catch her in the act, and reinforce that she should be sitting on the potty. There were a LOT of accidents. around 10 or so. And only once did i manage to get her to do a little wee on the potty BUT by the end of the day, after her accidents she would then run to the potty. So after a lot of cleaning floors and placing her on the potty i was hoping that tomorrow will be better!

Thursday (21st) Day 2:
Today was only 3 accidents, and 3 small wees on the potty. progress! She is realizing that it needs to go on the potty, and also holding it in longer.
Sophie also enjoyed putting her dollies on the potty when she went!

Friday (22nd) Day 3:
We have break-though! Sophie was busy playing, started to wee, quickly ran to the potty and finished her wee. She was so excited! We did a little yay wee on the toilet dance. and then said goodbye as we flushed it down the toilet. I had to pop into town for an hour so i put a pullup on her, and reminded her to go toilet while we were out. but she told me when she did it in her pullup instead.

For Sophie's toilet training, I didnt want to reward her with any treats, as she is just that little bit to young to understand rewards and sticker charts go with doing wee's in toilet. She is definitely a child who loves over enthusiasm, so i found that words of encouragement, and disinterest in the accidents worked. And getting really excited about wees on toilet made her feel proud as punch, and got her excited about doing it again.
On a side note i have downloaded 'Elmo's Potty Time' DVD for her to watch. It talks about going to the potty, washing hands, having that have to go feeling etc. I let Sophie watch it half way the day. I really liked this DVD and found her referring to it during her potty times. Talking about going 'wee wee' on the potty and not on the floor. so im glad that she this reinforced it to her (and i think it helped being Elmo - she is fascinated by him!)

Friday (5th) Day 2 weeks:
So it has been 2 weeks since i started Sophie with toilet training. She has done incredibly well. Since day 5, she has only had about 3 accidents at home. I still put her in pullups when we are out at the shops, but we try to go for walks and she is in knickers then and does really well.
